About ODT
In general, maximizing the ATHLETICISM of an individual will give him/her a better base at which to develop and succeed in a given sport. Opening Day Training (ODT) can make you or your child a better athlete. Training with ODT will create the foundation to perform the complex movements involved with all sports. If an athlete suffers from a lack of coordination (very common as the body grows) by far the best way to train is by focusing on ATHLETICISM.
John Selzler, M.A., CSCS started Opening Day Training, LLC back in 2007. Prior to that time, John had worked in the field of exercise science as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Baltimore Orioles. His love of athletics has steered him toward performance training. John has played and coached baseball in some capacity since the age of 10 but enjoys training ALL athletes of ALL ages because the fundamentals are very much the same. Speed, agility, coordination, strength, and power all play a role in most every sport. No matter what the age, improving these fundamentals WILL make you a better athlete.
John holds a Master's in Exercise Physiology and is Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist). John has been training ATHLETES since 1997, beginning his career with Frappier Sports Acceleration, continuing with the Baltimore Orioles and now with Opening Day Training.
Every athlete has different strengths and weaknessess. ODT has the knowledge, experience and the training facility to give any athlete that competetive edge. ODT has 2650 square feet of space including turf, free weights, cardio equipment, speed and agility equipment, etc. This spacious facility is located in Sarasota just east of I-75 between Bee Ridge Rd. and Palmer Blvd. Please make an appointment to stop by and check it out!
